After the success of Wall to Wall in 2015, the event is back!! On 18 to 20 of March, the idyllic town of Benalla will once again come to life with the sounds of scissor lifts and the smell of paint as the annual Wall to Wall Festival once again transforms the face of the Victorian regional town.
Featuring an all star line up of seven male and seven female street artists, another 14 amazing murals will be created, bringing the total number of murals to 28, making Benalla a must see destinations for art enthusiasts from all over the world.
This year’s festival offers a myriad of ways the public can get “hands on” at Wall to Wall 2016. Including the first ever Benalla Mural Art Prize, the opportunity to be an official artist at Wall to Wall, assisting to complete an oversized “paint by numbers” mural, youth stencil workshops at the Benalla Skate Park, skate demos and artist talks at the Benalla Art Gallery. There’ll also be a festival hub for those that want to enjoy a relaxing day in the sun listening to the best live music Benalla has to offer.
The Wall to Wall 2016 line-up includes some true street art heavyweights including the internationally acclaimed photo realist painter Smug, Wall to Wall 2015 favourite Adnate, one of Australia’s most well regarded and high profile female street artists, Kaff-eine, the extremely talented French artist Lucy Lucy, and the artist now famous for creating the Brim Art Silo, Guido Van Helten.
One of the headline artists, Smug, who was born in Australia but has been living in Europe for over 10 years said “I love to get back to Australia and anytime I get to paint in regional areas is always exciting for me. Australia is a great country and the people in these smaller towns embody all the things I love about it most”.
Smug has been painting street art for almost 20 years and has painted in countries such as Russia, America, Germany and France.
“Although I no longer live in Australia, it will always be my home so coming back I always want to put on my A-Game and paint my best work” says Smug.
Juddy Roller’s Technical Director Matt Careri says, “The Festival has already had a huge impact both locally and abroad. We’d love to see Wall to Wall become the number one Street Art Festival in Australia. We want to put Benalla on the map and I think that we are well on our way. The town has already been so forward thinking in embracing this new form of art and we hope that it continues well into the future.”
